Crossroads Soup Kitchen

Since the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit conception in 1968,

the Crossroads Soup Kitchen

(a ministry of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul and the Diocese of Michigan) has been an important program

within our congregation. On two or three Sundays during the year,

10 to15 volunteers go to Crossroads Soup Kitchen in Detroit .

During the morning, sandwiches and soup are prepared to

serve over 850 homeless people.

Then, from noon to 2:30 , a hot lunch is served to them.

Ongoing throughout the year, donations are needed

to stock the cupboards of Crossroads.

Suggested food items are:

canned meats, tuna, salmon; beef stew; hash; pork and beans;

macaroni and cheese; rice-a-roni; dry packed dishes; cereal;

oatmeal; sugar (there is never enough!); instant coffee;

jams and jellies; biscuit mix; muffin mix; syrup; pancake mix;

canned / dry milk; fruit juices; cookies; crackers; Similac  -- with or without iron (moderate amount); disposable diapers (variety of sizes);

yogurt; eggs; margarine; ground beef; chicken; cheese;

mayonnaise; mustard; toothbrushes; toothpaste;
